The University of York, set in over 200 acres of mature parklands around a central lake, allows for a relaxing and refreshing stay.
Wentworth College is located on the west side of the campus and offers budget accommodation for visitors to York and the surrounding areas. Located just outside the city centre it provides an excellent base for excursions to the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors, surrounding towns and villages, and has excellent public transport links into York city centre.All rooms have ensuite shower and toilet, and are provided with a television, hairdryer, complimentary toiletries, and tea and coffee making facilities. Full English and continental breakfast is served Monday - Friday mornings in the Edge Restaurant. Breakfast on a weekend is a continental breakfast-in-a-box selection which can be found in the fridge in the room.
Directions.
By Car - The easiest route to the University is to take the outer bypass (A64 on the south and east sides of the city, A1237 round the north and west) to the junction with the HullBridlington roads A1079A166. From this junction the route to the University is signposted. From the city centre the recommended routes are via Lawrence Street and Green Dykes Lane or via Fulford Road and Broadway. You are advised to avoid York city centre by car, as much of it is a pedestrian area.By Bus - There is a regular bus service operating between York Station and Heslington (Route 4) from monday to Saturday between 06:25 and 23:10. On Sunday the service is reduced to half-hourly intervals.By Taxi - A journey by taxi from the railway station will take approximately 15 minutes and costs around £6. There are additional taxi ranks in the city centre at Duncombe Place and St Saviourgate.Once at the Campus - at the roundabout at the West end of University Road (Siwards Way to the North and Wentworth Way to the South), follow Wentworth Way all the way down to the end. Here you will find car park G which is pay and display, with Wentworth College itself straight ahead.
