The WatersEdge Hotel is nestled in the heart of the historic town of Cobh. The spacious rooms are equipped to the highest standard and most have sea views.
The restaurant, Jacob's Ladder, is renowned for its seafood, steaks and local produce. From the hotel, you can enjoy the closeness to the world's famous cruise ships that go by regularly outside the hotel. There are also many spectacular sites to visit, including Cobh Heritage Centre, St. Colman's Cathedral and Fota House, Gardens and Wildlife Park. Cobh, formally known as Queenstown, is the famous embarkation and departure point for many the great transatlantic liners, and as the point of emigration for many Irish citizens, from Ireland, to the United States.
It was also the last port of call of the Titanic. All aspects of this history can be explored through the Cobh Heritage Centre located next door, the Titanic Trial, which departs daily, and St. Coleman's Cathedral.
The hotel is also only 15 minutes from the Jameson Heritage Centre, where you can learn about the history of Irish Whiskey and even sample some of the local produce.
If you want something a little more adventurous, then angling and harbour cruises depart from the wharf outside the hotel. All water sports including sailing, windsurfing and canoeing are available at The Cobh Sailing Centre together with tennis and equestrian sports are all within a few minutes of the hotel, who can organise the activities for you.
There are a surprising number of championship golf courses in the Cork area and all are easily accessible from the WatersEdge Hotel; the closest being Fota Island Golf Club (12 minutes) which is a truly remarkable championship course and held the Irish Open in 2002.
