  Loved it, would stay there again

  Good Points - Staff were friendly and flexible and we really enjoyed staying at the three horseshoes

  Bad Points - The only bad point was that the clause telling people active hotels never take money from your card was in small letters and I didn't realise the hotel had not been paid for in advance. This let to the hotel owner having to remind me which was a bit embarassing for both of us. As luck would have it I had enough cash on me to pay there and then but it would have been better if it was made very clear on the booking form

The Three Horseshoes is situated within 10 minutes' drive of the beautiful city of Durham.

With parts of the building over 300 years old, it still retains some quirky, original features.A charming country inn, it offers homely accommodation and cosy rooms. Each comes with a TV and facilities for making tea and coffee, and has double-glazed windows with views of the surrounding countryside.The Three Horseshoes offers a well-stocked cellar and serves hearty food in its timber-framed restaurant. A full English breakfast is available each morning, and a range of drinks are served at the bar.Durham is a historic old city, home to Durham University and a Norman castle, parts of which were used in the filming of Harry Potter. Newcastle can be reached in just over 30 minutes by car.

Directions

taking the motorway take Junction 61, follow the signs for the A688, continue straight over the first round about, at the second round about take the 3rd exit onto the A181, drive for around 2 minutes and the hotel is on the right hand sde.

A designated conservation area, Durham is home to Durham University and a Normal Castle and Cathedral, parts of which were used in the filming of the Harry Potter films. Just a short train journey will bring you to the centre of Newcastle which is popular for its shopping, lively nightlife and the famous Angel of the North landmark.
