Melville Castle has been restored and refurbished to provide a luxury 4 star Hotel only 6 miles (9.6 km) from Edinburgh city.
The castle is set in a secluded situation on the bank of the North Esk River within a fifty acre (20 hectare) wooded estate.
Built in 1786 on the site of the old medieval castle for the first Viscount Melville, it is described as of important historical and architectural significance.
The Hotel welcomes the discerning guest and also specialises in Wedding Receptions, Conferences and Corporate Events. We are pleased to offer exclusive use of the hotel and grounds for special occasions. It is bounded by two golf courses and the attractive grounds are home to a variety of wild life.
Designed by James Playfair principally for entertaining on a grand scale, the spacious entrance hall allows access to the elegant inner hall, staircase and attractive reception rooms. Each of the Castle's 30 comfortably furnished bedrooms is unique. The passenger lift gives access to the dining and boardroom and three levels of bedrooms including luxury four-poster rooms, 6 Gallery and 2 Spa bedrooms. Other rooms are also suitable for family occupation.
The hotel is a completely non-smoking throughout.

Melville Castle is situated south east of Edinburgh just beyond the city boundary.
From Edinburgh City Centre Head towards the city bypass then follow the instructions below.
From the West (Edinburgh Airport) follow the city bypass eastbound. Exit at Gilmerton Junction and follow the road signs for Eskbank. The gates to Melville Castle will appear on your right hand side about 1km from the bypass slip road.
From the East follow the city bypass westbound. At the Sheriff Hall Roundabout take the A68 then take the first turning on the right onto Melville Drive. The gates to Melville Castle are opposite the end of Melville Drive.
