The Marine Hotel, is a family run community style public house, with several letting rooms above.
Although it has been classed as a hotel for over 100 years we have only recently (Feb 2008) embarked upon a program to reinstate the building back to hotel status. The bar, lounge and dining room underwent a major refurbishment in May 2007, bringing to it a new lease of life. The bar has Sky Sports, 3 large plasma tvs,pool table, and darts, but best of all there is always a warm welcom from the locals.Friday and Saturday nighs can be a bit lively (untill about mid night) with live vocalists andor our karayoke compertitions.All rooms are clean and tidy and of a good, but basic standard, with TV and teacoffee making facilities. Prefer to have a lay on in the morning? Thats not a problem, you can chose to have evening meal instead of breakfast.The Marine is a 5 minute walk from Barry Island Fun Fair, the beach and the local train station. Trains run to and from Cardiff on a frequent and regular basis with a journey time of approx 25mins. We are in an Ideal location for those attending events at the Millenium Stadium.Bar meals are served until 8pm, and fresh pizzas are baked untill 11pm. There is a separate dining room away from the main bar and lounge. We offer budget priced accommodation with family friendly hospitality.
Directions.
Follow signs in to Barry and then continue to follow brown tourist information signs to Barry Island Fair Ground. (As you near Barry Island the fair ground will be visible from approx a mile away). You will enter a one-way road system that will take you down a short hill. ( The Ship Public House is at the bottom of the hill to your right). Turn left at the junction opposite The Ship. As you approach the fair groung (look for Log flume) immediately turn left under the railway bridge. At the next round about (island) turn right. The Marine Hotel is a the top of the hill to your right. The car park is to the rear.
