A friendly hotel where you can enjoy country style and the tranquillity of a small castle in the city, 10 minutes’ walk from the city centre, theatres and shops.
This hotel with free private car parking and free wireless broadband offers 16 individually decorated bedrooms.
The ‘Taste of Scotland’ awarded Skerries Restaurant, and the Stane Bar boast over 90 malt whiskies plus a good selection of local beers. Bar lunches and suppers are served and private dining is available. .
Unfortunately the hotel does not have a lift. Dunstane House was built in 1852 to the design of the famous architect William Playfair, who also designed the nearby Donaldsons' College for the Deaf. Originally Dunstane Villa, as it was first named, was the private residence of the Ross family, famous for their Edinburgh Castle Rock and other confectionery produced in Scotland. The bandstand in Princes Street gardens takes its name from the family. Our Edinburgh Hotel retains its Victorian architectural grandeur which, combined with an intimate country house atmosphere, ensures our guests leave with lasting memories of Dunstane. Crow step gables, archers' windows and ornate open fireplaces give Dunstane the atmosphere of a small castle.
