Dowfold House provides four star rated accommodation in a peaceful rural location in the heart of Weardale. This charming and comfortable Victorian house has delightful gardens and all rooms have lovely valley views.
It is well situated within County Durham, just 15 minutes from Durham city. The surrounding area offers numerous delightful walks. Beamish with its open air museum is just 20 minutes away, as is the Railway Museum near Spennymoor. Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough are all within 45 minutes of Dowfold House.
At breakfast, enjoy a truly English country house experience, with crisp table linen and fine china. A traditional full English breakfast is served each morning, all made from fresh local produce. Our jams and marmalades are home made, often using fruit from the garden. Take afternoon tea in our residents' lounge. On cold winter's evenings, snuggle into our comfortable sofas around an open log fire and select a book or magazine from our library.
Walkers and cyclists are well catered for, with a drying room and secure cycle storage.
Please Note: We are a No-Smoking property. Dogs allowed, may incur additional charge. Check-In time: 15:30 and Check-Out time: 10:30. A cot can be provided for an additional £5 per night, or a full-size bed for £20 for the first night, and £15 per night thereafter.
