Originally a coaching inn reputedly frequented by Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton, this hotel is conveniently positioned just off the M4, and 2 minutes’ walk from the nearest railway station.
The birthplace of the Welsh Rugby Union (founded in 1881), the Castle Hotel has a rich history, and still retains its friendliness, good food, wines and cosy comfort.
The hotel is the perfect base for visitors to South Wales. From Neath you can discover historic monuments and castles, explore the scenic countryside and relax on the fine beaches which make this area so popular. We have our own private walled and gated car park just 20 m from the front of the hotel. In addition, next to the car park, we have a warehouse with electric roller shutter doors for the secure overnight storage of mountain bikes.
Directions.
By Car
- The hotel is approximately 40 minutes west of Cardiff.
- Leave the M4 at junction 43.
- Take the A465 and follow signs for Neath, and then Neath town centre.
- We are situated on the right-hand side, approximately 300 yards past the railway station.
Br Train:
Neath railway station is only 2 minutes’ walk away and has direct links to Swansea, London Paddington, Manchester Piccadilly and Newcastle upon Tyne.
By Air:
Cardiff International Airport is approximately 40 minutes’ drive. Bristol Airport is only 1 hour away.
By Sea:
Irish Ferries at Pembroke Dock is approximately 1 hour’s drive, and Fishguard Dock with the Stenna services to Roslare is approximately 1 hours and 30 minutes’ drive.
