Abbots Brae Hotel is an award-winning hotel offering romantically secluded accommodation in the tranquil seaside village of Dunoon.
Abbots Brae has earned itself an enviable reputation as a luxurious home away from home. Built in 1843 as a holiday retreat for an affluent Glasgow glass merchant - the house retains many of its original features. It is set in its own secluded woodland garden with breathtaking views of sea and hills, yet it is only one mile from Dunoon Town Pier and one hour from Glasgow - and the airports - via the ferry. The hotel has few equals for delightful short beaks and special pampered romantic breaks in the charming west of Scotland. It is also ideal for small weddings. The 8 spacious bedrooms offer a choice of luxurious four-poster - king-size - double and twin accommodation with every amenity discerning guests require and added extras. Many of the rooms offer views of the sea and all are spacious and individual - they are named after places in the stunning Cowal Peninsula with each room displaying photographs related to the place name. The cuisine served in The Secret Place restaurant is modern Scottish and is prepared by Stephen Boswell - our 2 Rosette and 3 Medallion winning chef. Menus change daily and - where possible - ingredients are sourced from the best local suppliers. The area offers a wide range of leisure opportunities. Dunoon is home to the world famous spectacular Highland Games - Cowal Highland Gathering - and is situated at the western gateway to the Loch Lomond National Park. Staff at the hotel will be happy to arrange activities or provide further information on scenic drives - local crafts - rambling - sailing - fishing - hill-walking - boat trips - historical sites - pony-trekking and golf. Abbots Brae Hotel is proud of its tradition of warm hospitality. In 2006 it was runner up for the Scottish Small Hotel of the Year award and highly commended for the Warm Welcome Scottish Hotel of the Year Award.
